Back to the Palazzo Mocenigo Fiber art, contemporary forms of expression, which use various materials, yarn, fiber, fabric with a range of entirely new structures and iconography today updated continuously evolving.
The exhibition features 54 miniartextiles - small fiber art works 20x20x20 cm - by artists from 40 different countries and 6 installations - 5 by some of the greatest artists of this form of expression, the Japanese artists Kyoko Tsujita,Takushi Aono, Shihoko Fukumoto, Makiko Wakisaka, Sumiko Tasaka, and one textile sculpture by the Italian Elisa Nicolaci.
The main theme of the works on display is the Universe together with its splendours, exploring all that is between earth and the space, inspired by planetary motion or by the structure of star constellation.
Among the most captivating works are “Meditation”, by Hiroko Watanabe, for the original use of led lights; A second Earth, by Annelies Slabbynck and the works by two young female artists, Space In by Dagmar Smetanova (1986) – the essence of space in a paper globe - and The Hall, by Muge Durmaz (1985), the universe in the space of a pomegranate.
