The treasury of St. Salvador contains over ninety masterpieces of silversmithery of which twenty-two have been selected for the exhibition first settled in Scuola Grande San Teodoro (22.09.08\15.11.08) and now in the vicary Church dedicated to San Bartolomeo. The styles, techniques and materials displayed by the objects are indicative of the path taken by the art of silversmithery from 1300 to 1800. The twenty-two objects exhibited needed restoration in order to reveal their extraordinary qualities: we always thank those who felpe us in the past hoping there are more ‘mecenati’ who may want to be protagonists with economical donation to keep other masterpieces to their original beauty. The reconstruction of a silversmith’s workshop in the XVIII century where the craft is practised on a daily basis, the materials used and techniques applied leaded venetians, visitors as well as experts to comprehended those forms and styles which have been handed down to us through the centuries. It was an opportunity to become more closely acquainted with the ancint craft and understand, through workshop demontrations, how the artist went about designing and realising his work. The archive materials, on the other hand, reveals the profile of the man himself. These aspects and the success of the exhibition made us happy to keep the treasury as well as the workshop to St. Bartolomeo Church for an other year exhibition. In the next 12 months an important didactic activity will take place in order tobe able to revive a craft which can arouse interest in various related interdisciplinary fields, with special guided tours and laboratori for guys from 8 to 18 years old.

The exhibition is part of a larger cultural project which realized aims are:
1. a catalogue by Silvia Pichi, edited by Il Prato. Many essays by many of the most important experts of silversmithery in Italy;
2. the realization of the re production of the “botega da orese” of XVIII century, where, even thank to
archival documentation, the atmosphere of he craftsman’s workshop, that hub of inventiveness and
realization, can be brought back to life.
Future aims are: didactict activities and a convention on silversmithery from past to present.
The entire project has been ideated and created by Anna Fornezza, M.Chiara Klinger Mazzarino and Silvia Pichi, of whom it i san intellectual property.
