This suggestive itinerary sets out from the terminal overlooking the large harbour mouth that connects Venice to the sea, and then continues with views across the lagoon to the far horizons, and on through the old villages of the littoral of Cavallino.
Once beyond the Canale Pordelio, you come to the township of Treporti, with the little church and its two characteristic bell towers, and proceed along the banks of Valle Zanella as far as the village of Saccagnana, with its historic rural court of the 'Prà ', overlooked by a rustic villa (Palazzetto Boldù) and the little old church built by the first inhabitants of the island; then, on to the small village of Le Mesole, with its market gardens, the oratory with the old leaning cypress and the restored

16th century monastery building. The itinerary concludes at Lio Piccolo overlooking the lagoon landscape, suspended between the silent waters of the fishing reaches. Here is the lagoon with its long embankments that wind about, separating fresh flowing waters from tranquil, fertile waters; and man's settlements collocated in its interior - habitations scattered, as it were, or grouped into old and picturesque villages. Here the lagoon's natural sounds and fragrances waft to the visitor, as unchanging as thousands of years ago.
